Public Service Study Affects Elyria Police Chief Job

The Public Administration Service released a six month 27950 study on Elyria Police Department but the city will not reveal it as it is a working document. The report urges dropping the rule that chief candidates must be promoted from lieutenant and serving at least one year, opening the post to outside candidates for a potentially higher caliber chief. It notes no current leaders are deemed unsuitable and recommends boosting manpower to 81 and improving the reporting system. The piece also mentions former Lt Governor Richard Celeste expected to assist Democratic campaigns next year and ends with thanks to residents who helped capture the Snow Monkey Seldom Seen.
