Bells ring at noon in many area churches to support the 50 Americans held in Tehran since November 4. Clergy say the nationwide act unites residents and honors the hostages, with St Andrews ringing daily and other churches considering longer tolling if needed.
Militants in Tehran press conference display a letter they claim proves U S embassy staff spied. They announced plans to try Bruce Laingen and two other American diplomats in captivity, denouncing any release of 50 Americans held since the siege began.
