Ralph Schibley a 17 year old from Amherst suffered a serious chest wound when Alfred Kaus a 41 year old deputy marshal fired from his car as a rumble seat vehicle passed on Route 58 near Well ington Oberlin. Schibley was taken to hospital then home. Kaus was jailed pending investigation.

A barn on Frank Wysocki’s Ridgeville area farm was destroyed by a lightning fire at 9 am as he and two sons prepared produce in the basement. Several items and seven tons of hay plus 75 bushels of oats were lost. fire department could not save the barn though nearby buildings were kept safe. The farm had suffered prior strikes, including a house fire two weeks earlier and a rebuilt home after a year-old blaze.

LORAIN, Aug. 29. The body of John Strange, 32, World War veteran in a Scottish Highland regiment, was found in the Black river today. He had been missing since Saturday afternoon.
