Harness racing and a full slate of entertainment drew crowds to the 98th Lorain County Fair. By 5 p.m. 20 percent more entered than the prior year’s second day, with over 16 000 at the grounds and 6 000 more listening to concerts. Tonight the Junior Fair parade, 4 H and FFA activities, and a nationality program with Johnny Pecon and his Polka Band are planned as Lorain Day. The four day event closes tomorrow with open and Junior Fair judging, a Junior Fair Steer Club show and sale, and Fine Arts displays including The Economy Display made from feed sacks.

Lorain Soldier Reunited as Prison Camp Release Noted
Lorain native Cpl Donald J. Pawlowski 22 of the U S Marine Corps was among Marines released from a Korean prison camp. His mother Mrs Anthony Pawlowski learned the news on television after receiving his May letter saying he was wounded and captured on Oct 26 1952. He enlisted Jan 15 1951 and was overseas Sept 15 1952. Brother Edward and sister Florence Fulger join parents in welcoming him home.

Four dog bite incidents reported in Elyria area
