Nature Played A Mean Prank On Sea Gulls
San Francisco ferry conductor Ed Spelman has spent a decade studying why sea gulls appear to suffer fallen arches. He notes gulls lack knees to absorb shock and rely on foot arches and heel pads that wear, causing discomfort as they search for a place to sit. Commuters aboard the bay discuss the issue during trips.
