CLEVELAND Aug 26 Former state engineer C J Knisely, named as the man who asked Senator Lorbach if he would take 150000 to drop the highway probe, will be questioned Tuesday in Columbus by the state investigating committee. Knisely denied the charge saying he only related a rumor of a possible bribe and did not solicit or receive money. He recalled a March meeting at the New House in Columbus where Lorbach was told of a possible payoff to halt the inquiry. Lorbach said the offer involved a sum as high as 150000 and warned the committee could be pressured to stop further investigation. Knisely added that he did not offer any bribe and understood 350000 would be pooled to halt the probe, but he refused to participate. He noted his long service in the Highway Department and current work as a real estate examiner.
