A bitter clash over seating Mississippi and Alabama delegations erupted at the opening of the Democratic National Convention in Atlantic City. The dispute centered on seating the two Southern states amid factional tensions within the party.
In Saigon and other major South Vietnamese cities thousands rioted against President Khanh. Demonstrators attacked a hotel housing American troops while a police spy was beaten. US troops at Da Nang reported gunfire as riots continued amid war weariness and anti American sentiment.
Seven persons including four children die in Lorain County crashes yesterday raising year total to 44. A father and his four kids perish when a convertible hits a concrete abutment near Amherst. An Elyria woman and a Vermilion man die in a multi car crash as four others are injured.
