Strange Bird Abides at Wellington Water Works
Beautiful egret from the Heron family has settled near Wellington Water Works. Bird lovers flock daily to see this rare specimen, measuring 36 to 41 inches, with a yellowish bill and black tip. Egrets once ranged the southern U.S. and into Nova Scotia, now found in few spots. The piece notes persecution for plumage and recalls a white heron last seen locally thirty years ago.
