Vermilion teachers and board prepare for marathon contract talks

Negotiations follow July talks that collapsed, a 10 day strike notice, and disputes over multiyear terms and health care cost shifts as classes begin Tuesday.

Findlay seeks funding to fix chronic flood issues

Findlay leaders press for about 50 million dollars to reduce river flooding along the Blanchard. The U S Army Corps of Engineers warns five years of work remain with options including channels levees and walls. The flood last August and February damaged 1600 homes with 900 forced from their homes.

Couple charged in separate domestic violence incidents

In the Aug 20 morning report, Quinn D. Callock, 27, Elyria, was charged with domestic violence in the 1500 block of Grafton Road, Carlisle Township. Later, at 5:50 p.m., Wayne J. Clark, 44, of Columbia Township, was charged in the 14500 block of Plum Creek Drive, Columbia Township.

Replacement candidate eyed for Tubbs Jones seat

Democrats in Ohio must find a replacement for late U S Representative Stephanie Tubbs Jones by October 27 for the November ballot.
