Suit Filed Over Avon Auto Crash For 75000
Steven J. Bering of 237 Gates Ave filed in Lorain County Common Pleas Court a $75,000 suit for injuries and damages from an auto collision on Rt. 254 in Avon. The defendant is William W. Williams of 5371 Detroit Rd Sheffield, whose car struck Bering April 12.

Grafton escapee sentenced in Chillicothe facility
Ronald E. Smith, 20, who escaped July 5 from Grafton tison Farm, was sentenced by Lorain County Common Pleas Court Judge Floyd D. Harris to six months to five years in the Chillicothe Correctional Institution after pleading guilty. The sentence runs in addition to a two to five year term for breaking and entering.

Oberlin Man Held to Grand Jury on Weapons and Traffic Charge
An Oberlin man was ordered held to the grand jury in Elyria Municipal Court on carrying a concealed weapon and disobeying a traffic control device after police said Henry Brown Jr. drove through a red light turning from Middle Avenue onto Broad Street. Brown, 22, of 125 Street Gladys Ct., was charged Tuesday after a .22 pistol and suspected marijuana were found in a car. Henry, 27, of 1103 Barbara St., was charged with the same offense and with an anti stall device in the vehicle. Henry was to appear today in municipal court.
