East End Avenue revival among New York arts figures
In the 80s era East End Avenue and nearby streets, part of John Jacob Astor’s old farm, see a cultural revival with Howard Taylor hosting artists in high apartments. Notable residents include soprano Gladys Warhurst, Frank Chapman Jr., Lawrence Tibbetts and James Melton, with Delos Chappelle as a producer. Vincent Astor still controls much real estate, and homes are three story brick structures with distinctive roof windows.
