In Boston on August 20 four armed bandits robbed Frederick Ives, manager of Carl H Skinner Jewelry Co, of a box of diamonds and jewelry valued at £150,000. Police pursued the robbers over miles but they escaped in a car. Separately in Kansas City on the same day four bandits raided the Corn Exchange National Bank, taking between $14,600 and $10,000 in cash before fleeing in a large automobile.
