Escapee Pelliccia Pardoned After 41 Years on Run
Vincent Pelliccia, a Virginia prison escapee who fled in 1946 and later lived in California, was pardoned by Gov. Gerald L. Baliles on fugitive charges moments before an extradition hearing. The 62-year-old retiree faced release after a conditional forgiveness tied to good behavior, as relatives and supporters praised the decision. Pelliccia expressed relief and thanked the media, planning fishing and gardening after years of secrecy.
