I-480 completes linking city, suburbs in grand opening
Gov Celeste presided at I-480 opening ceremonies from West 130th Street to Tuxedo Road as mourned by supporters. Thousands watched Danny Piriosi kiss the new pavement shouting I waited 22 years for this. The 43 mile route connects to Rt 10 and three major interstates easing downtown bottlenecks and cutting travel times across Greater Cleveland. Several officials attended including Rep. Mary Rose Oakar and Mayor George Voinovich.
