FBI to trim bank robbery investigations report
Washington bankers oppose FBI plans to cut bank robbery probes and shift focus to white collar crimes. Industry figures cite 66 percent of 4,776 bank crimes in 1977 solved with 39 percent solved solely by the FBI. FBI official notes banks lose far more to white collar crime than armed robberies. Ingram cites 1935 statute and a 4,776 yearly total with losses over 25.5 million as justification for prioritizing racketeering cases.
