Nerve gas lost in sea aboard the Hartley

The U S Navy abandoned tests to see if 67 tons of obsolete nerve gas from the sunken Liberty ship SS LeBaron Russell Briggs released into the Atlantic off Florida. The hulk sank rapidly, precluding detonation, and a plan to surface water samples failed as bottles surfaced early or never surfaced. The Army and Navy vowed no future sea dumping.

Lorain man presumed drowned after boating incident

A 36 year old Lorain man Kenneth John Boyd apparently drowned near the East pier after either jumping or falling from his boat while water skiing with his stepson and two teens. The Coast Guard searched the area for 90 minutes with plans to resume with divers. A witness and Randy Young, who said his father was intoxicated, described the events and the rescue attempt.

Israelis Attack Guerrilla Bases Near Lebanon Frontier
