Fire Victim Dies After Norwalk Office Explosion

Thomas Stogner 38 of 27 Gray St. died after 10 days of burns from an explosion while cleaning offices of Norwalk Truck Lines Inc. The fire gutted the building causing about 0,000 in damage. Stogner, in critical condition with 85 percent burns, fled the blaze. his clothes burned off. Funeral arrangements are being made at Graham-Young Funeral Home.

Federal report notes improved business pickup in 1958

The Commerce Department reported a higher gross national product in the first three months of 1958 with total spending on goods and services near 446 billion dollars, up from earlier figures. Personal consumption rose through April to July, while inventories slowed and government spending remained flat. Net foreign trade receipts were unchanged and personal income rose by about 2.5 billion dollars in the three month period.

Motorcycle Crash Kills Nova Youth

Allen Cook, 19, of Nova, died when his motorcycle hit potholes on Ashland County Rd 176, 0.5 mile from the county line. He was repairing the bike when the accident occurred and died at Samaritan Hospital. Funeral set for Eastman Funeral Home New London at 2 p.m. Thursday. His death marks Ashland County's 14th traffic fatality this year.
