Elyria voters may be faced at the next general election with a request for additional building funds for the public schools. The Elyria City Board of Education voted to hire Squires Sanders and Dempsey to draft legislation and set August 25 for a preliminary high school report. A August 21 bid opening for stage and lighting equipment was also scheduled.

A resolution to submit a 51.65 million bond issue for storm water sewer system construction was passed on first reading by the City Council. City Auditor Ellsworth Albert certified the request to the county auditor Frank Ayres, who set the millage at 1.0474 for each dollar of valuation on Elyria’s present tax list of about 79.4 million.
