Old City Hall in Elyria Faces Modern Reuse
Fifty years ago Elyria considered remodeling Old City Hall on Court Street built in 1867 68. The building housed city offices fire police and the Opera House and now faces decay and possible demolition. A plan by Steven McQuillin proposes remodeling the hall into a new city government center with four floors, fire safety upgrades, and a larger block development including a hotel and offices, at under 6 million dollars.
