Wellington woman dies in apartment fire
A Wellington woman, Mrs Leo Margaret Radcliffe, died in an early morning fire at Wellington Gardens Apartments on Mill Street. Manager Ford Faulkner said an electric heating pad may have shorted out, causing the blaze detected around 6 am. The fire caused about 15000 in damages to the two building complex as residents in the other 11 units could remain in place despite smoke damage. The Lorain County coroner arrived to determine the cause of the fire.

Siblings Battle Deputies In South Amherst Standoff
Two brothers aged 11 and 16 argued at 6996 Dewey Road in South Amherst. Deputies tried to subdue the 16-year-old who resisted as the 11-year-old emerged with a shotgun. The house was barricaded and deputies, along with LaGrange and Amherst police, surrounded it for about an hour. The 11-year-old was captured after escaping from the home. the 16-year-old fired pellet rounds but did not use the shotgun. No deputies were injured. The parents could not be reached for comment.
