Grafton Rejects Grandiose Town Hall Plans
Grafton council dismissed Cleveland architect Edward J. Proctor’s plans for a new town hall as too grandiose. The proposal featured 6,300 square feet and an estimated cost of 137 500 with offices for village officials, while the council favored a smaller 1,800 square foot building costing about 50,000. Tear-down costs and priorities, including a new fire engine from income tax funds, influenced the decision.
