Readers’ pastry skill shines as judges award honorable mention to two recipes. Deep Dish Peach Pie uses peaches with cake batter topping baked in a 360 degree oven, while Whipped Cream Apple Sauce features a flaked crust and apple sauce with whipped cream topping.
Louise Gebl of Elyria and Mrs Pauline Talarski of 614 Lodi Street won cash prizes in the weekly Chronicle Telegram recipe contest for pies. Prizes included a dollar each and Coca Cola or Par-T-Pak beverages. Next week’s theme is meats with winners to be published Wednesday.
