Pike County Site For Big Atomic Plant Announced
The Atomic Energy Commission announced plans to build a 1.2 billion dollar gaseous diffusion plant on a 6500 acre site about 22 miles north of Portsmouth Ohio. The project aims to boost U S atomic capability amid a vast expansion costing over 3.5 billion dollars over five years. The plant will need up to 1.8 million kilowatts and employ up to 30 000 workers at peak, with relocation for about 50 families and a three to three and a half year ramp to full operation on the Scioto River near Portsmouth.

Escapee Hunted After Gun Battle Near Lorain
