Church of the Holy Communion A historic Manhattan staple

In New York on August 12 1946 the Church of the Holy Communion on Sixth Avenue and Twentieth Street is noted as a historic Protestant Episcopal church with ninety three years of history. It recalls the Upjohn architecture once visible and John Jacob Astor’s past attendance. A recent theft of altar ornaments was quickly resolved when the thief was caught trading them for liquor. The church honors William Augustus Muhlenberg founder and remembers his legacy with a portrait and a tablet.
