Seven Hurt As Tornado-Like Storm Rips Sheffield Lake
A freak windstorm struck Sheffield Lake village near midnight injuring seven and damaging numerous cottages between Steps 1 and 86. The storm, described as funnel shaped with a reddish cast, caused extensive damage in Lorain County and flooding in Lorain city. Seven injured residents were rushed to St Josephs hospital Lorain.

Two Keen brothers questioned in torch murders in Michigan
In Ann Arbor a blood stained purse linked a case in which four teens were murdered and cremated after a chase near Willis. Police moved two brothers Lawrence and Paul Keen to a state post for questioning as evidence mounted from the attack and subsequent killings.

A riot call at Newburg Heights Town Hall followed a fierce Republican mayoral primary between Mayor Frank C Thur and Ralph E Patterson. Patterson backers jailed workers were released after accusations of polling-place access issues. Patterson led with 313 votes to 263 for Thur. In Bay Village, Yengling and Saddler tied for mayor. Merchants Win Oberlin Council Primary Contest
Farl Morris and George Broadwell, both local merchants, won the Republican nomination for Oberlin council defeating Karl Geiser, a political science professor, and J N Stone, a former state senator. Broadwell led with 641 votes and Morris with 590, while Stone had 372 and Geiser 358. Officials note Oberlin set a record for primary voters though overall turnout was low. Both winners are new to politics. Stone has 12 years in public service and Geiser formerly served on the council. The victors are expected to be elected in November.

Nearly five thousand Republicans and 365 Democrats voted in Elyria to select party nominees for city offices. Mayor James A. Hewitt led the Republican ticket for a third term with 2,337 of 4,998 total GOP votes, while Democrat W. N. Van Oster ran unopposed for mayor.
