DeWine declares emergency in eight Northeast Ohio counties
Gov. Mike DeWine declared a state of emergency on Saturday for eight Northeast Ohio counties including Lorain Cuyahoga Ashtabula Geauga Lake Portage Summit and Trumbull to speed emergency aid and damage assessments. The governor asked FEMA to assess damage while state agencies monitor SNAP and electric utilities. Ohio EMA coordinates with county EMAs for reimbursements as crews work to restore power, with 69,614 customers still dark in the Cleveland area. Avon Lake residents received two free gallons of water and one bag of ice from Giant Eagle through Wednesday.
