A Columbus AP report says a $5.4 million unsecured housing loan program by the Ohio treasury prompted the temporary recess of a special grand jury. State Prosecutor John Peck requested an audit after the Mansfield News Journal disclosed the loans, with the auditor Roger Cloud pledging to review them. The loans were issued April 1970 through Armour Securities Co. of Cleveland, with more than $1 million in monthly disbursements reported.

Del Corso urges local handling of campus disturbances
State Adjutant General S. T. Del Corso told a House-Senate committee that campus disturbances should be managed by local authorities with non-lethal weapons. He and Robert M. The government refused to bargain and Mitrione was found shot dead in an abandoned car. A note warned Dias Gomide would be executed.

Avon man dies in gun cleaning accident
A 49 year old Avon man, Charles Hanzel of 4606 Case Rd, died yesterday afternoon from a bullet wound while cleaning a .308 rifle. Police say the weapon discharged accidentally while being partly disassembled. the bullet pierced his heart and went through nearby curtains and walls. Hanzel, who had been recuperating from a heart attack, was found by his wife at 4 p.m. The gun had been bought for his son, John, 17, who was at work at the time. Funeral services are handled by Burmeister County Line Funeral Home. obituary appears on page 14.

Postcard Sent 28 Years Ago Reaches Sandusky Sister
