Masseuse jailed for prostitution in Elyria

Elyria detectives arrested a masseuse at Yoshiko Oriental Health Spa on Broad Street opposite City Hall on a prostitution charge. One woman remained in jail pending bond as police refused to name her while confirming the arrest.

Storm knocks out power to thousands in area

Thunderstorms and heavy rain across the region caused widespread outages when lightning struck a 69 000 volt transmission line in southern Lorain County. About 5 000 customers served by Edison Firelands Electric Coop and Lorain Medina Rural Electric Cooperative lost power from 8 30 p m to midnight. New London and nearby towns were hardest hit while Cleveland’s NWS logged a funnel sighting elsewhere that night.

Oldest Ohio veteran Blaine a 101 year Elyria native

FOSTORIA AP news profile of David Miller Blaine born Feb 19 1877 in Elyria, Ohio. He is the state’s oldest veteran and among the last survivors of the 13 682 Ohio Volunteers in the Spanish American War. Blaine, living at Good Shepherd Nursing Home, enjoys bridge, horse betting, reading, and sun.
