Boys swept off feet by under tow at Vermilion lake
Two Amherst area youths, Lloyd Maurer 18 and Walter Riemen 20, drowned in Lake Erie near Vermilion after a large wave and dangerous under tow. Walter's body washed ashore near pilings at Vermilion early morning. Maurer recovered two hours after, and both were taken to Baker Funeral Home in Amherst. Maurer, son of Orvis Maurer, attended Amherst High School class of 1930. Riemer, Brownhelm High alumnus, had farm work with his father Adolph Riemer family, survived by siblings. Coast guards had searched the lake with no other details given.

QUINCY Michigan Aug. 10 John Kline 23 of Dayton Ohio rescued his mother and an 85 year old grandmother from drowning after a speed boat capsized on a sharp turn at Lake Quincy He brought his mother to the overturned boat and then his grandmother to safety before sinking from exhaustion and being rescued by bystanders.

Americans Die In Montreal Area Car Crash
In the Laurentian Mountains near St Agathe Quebec a Dayton Ohio couple, Mr. and Mrs Charles C Brun of 20 Erie Street, died in a highway crash while travelling toward Montreal.
