New London OKs gas contract hike and dispatch plan
The New London Village Council approved a Columbia Gas Co. of Ohio contract raising charges over five years with monthly minimums increasing from 3.25 to 5.00 dollars and per 100 cubic feet rates rising each year. It also advanced a dispatching agreement with Robert Luxon for 24 hour vehicle service.

Firelands board studies stadium improvements
Firelands Booster Club seeks estimates from architect Jack Curtis to enclose the 90 by 40 foot area under the stadium bleachers for rest rooms storage and possibly a weight room. Booster president Ross Bethard asked the school board for permission to contract Curtis for cost plans.

Fire wipes out Hobby Horse Farms barn in Eaton Township
Lightning struck the largest barn at Hobby Horse Farms on Route 82 in Eaton Township Saturday, burning it to the ground. Owner Bob O'Donnell estimated replacement at no less than $150,000 and a decision remains on whether rubble will be buried on site or hauled away.
