Fire devastates Thistle Building in Lorain
A Sunday early morning blaze at the Thistle Building on 700 Broadway in Lorain forced firefighters to fight from the outside. Two residents were reported trapped on the second floor and Red Cross aid helped about six residents while others escaped. One resident described carrying his fiancée through intense heat to safety as firefighters deployed a ladder to reach trapped occupants.

Dutch maker KMG says excessive corrosion inside the Fire Ball gondola support beam caused a catastrophic failure during operation at the Ohio State Fair killing 18-year-old Tyler Jarrell and injuring seven others.
