Tappers amnesty fails to curb water theft in Elyria
Elyria city officials say the two month amnesty for residents illegally tapping into city water yielded few takers. Mayor Floyd Peace announced the program’s limited success and outlined plans to begin a targeted enforcement sweep starting along Sugar Ridge Road Route 83 and near Ridgeview Boulevard to identify households and businesses with unauthorized taps. The effort mirrors earlier tax amnesty momentum as officials shift to recover lost revenue and control leaks.
