Post office opens Sunday at Ohio State Fairgrounds
At the Ohio State Fair, a Smokey Bear Station post office operates outside the main buildings. John Meeker, 22, a band counselor, says the office handles about 150 letters daily for the All Ohio State Fair Band, whose 300 members rely on the service to keep in touch with home. Visitors on Monday reached 20,028, up 110 percent from last year.

The Catholic Diocese of Cleveland seeks to buy Hickory Nut Golf Course for future cemetery use, or to retain golf operations for decades. The board continued the hearing to Aug. 27 and scheduled an Aug. 13 Zoning Board of Appeals session on five conditional oil and gas well zoning requests, amid plans to adjust meeting dates around the Lorain County Fair.
