Columbia Township Fire Explorer program opens doors for youth
Columbia Township Fire Lt. Kevin Barnard's daughter Kristen joins the Explorer program supervised by Chief Ray Anthony and Mike Arena. Open to Lorain County youth 14 to 21, it teaches CPR and basic fire and EMS concepts with a $10 fee and participation limited to non firefighting scenes. A 106 year old Carlisle Township woman hosts a night of southern gospel music and preaching at 6 p.m. August 21 at the church. Performers include Rev. John Boggs and his praise group the White Family Joann Edwards the Cadle Family and others. Admission is twelve dollars per person or twenty dollars for a couple with concessions after the music and a book sale at the library 13824 West River Road North Columbia Township.

Juvenile admonished after public park incident in North Park
A Grafton resident reported a juvenile in North Park at 5 45 p m Thursday July 29 mooning people and blowing up condoms. Police called his parents who were told to keep him away from the park and said they would make adjustments with him.

Vandalism and theft reports in LaGrange area police log
LaGrange police logged several incidents from July 29 to Aug 1 including vehicle vandalism on Harvest Court, a drug paraphernalia charge for Joshua Wilson in Wadsworth, a mental health transport request on North Center Street, and youths on Hickory and Novak streets. An officer located two children left in a parked car on Main Street, while other calls involved fireworks, loud groups, purse theft resolved as a husband moved the purse, beer can littering, and toilet papering complaints.
