Silent Movie raises a rare silent tribute to slapstick
Mel Brooks pays homage to silent cinema in a mostly wordless 90 minute film starring Marcel Marceau. The comedy relies on mime and facial acting, with only a defiant No spoken. Brooks, DeLuise, Feldman, Caesar drive a nostalgic era dispatch in a playful spoof.

The Music Man at Huntington Playhouse becomes one of the season’s popular offerings. Meredith Willson’s Americana score pleases with a happy ending, a lively chorus and orchestra, and confident direction by Mike Eschofen and Dan McElwain. The production transports audiences with strong pacing and notable choreography by Jill Jesty, despite some scene-change gaps and occasional continuity issues.

River City 1912 stage notes praise and cast critique
Production in River City Iowa features old-fashioned green and white band uniforms with a back-stage gazebo setting. Praise for Shipoops choreography and Marian the Librarian dancing. Mary McHale Foster shines as Marian and Bob Snider excels as Mayor Shinn. Dick Corcoran plays Harold Hill but needs stronger menace while Lila Priver underplays laughs. overall 35-member cast praised for singing and acting with notable minor touches. Special notice of barbershop quartet and town characters. In SWINK Oklahoma the Chief's Old House remains the oldest residence, a two-story log home built 1932-33 near US 70 two miles northeast.
