Schrobger? Kent suit testifies limit on mothers’ testimony

Mrs. Louis Schroeder of Lorain and Mrs. Elaine Holstein Philadelphia, mothers of Kent State victims, will not be allowed to testify in the federal suit seeking 46 million dollars in damages. Judge Don J. Young ruled the mothers lack relevant testimony to the case and stressed the ruling was legal, not personal. A retired Army officer testified earlier that soldiers decide for themselves in riot situations when to shoot, and Army crowd control procedures aim to exhaust other options before firing.

Rhodes dismissal motion in Kent State shooting suit

In the Ohio civil case seeking 46 million dollars over the Kent State shootings, a motion to dismiss damages claims against Gov. James A. Rhodes was filed. Rhodes' attorney argued no factual or legal basis supports liability, noting no martial law existed and that the governor did not issue orders to the Guard.
