Four-H Girls to Represent Lorain County at State Fair
Mildred Pallas and Marguerite Streicher of Carlisle and Rebecca Rea of Elyria township will represent Lorain county in Four-H club competitions at the state fair August 29 to September 3. They were chosen from a field of contestants at the Y M C auditorium with Miss Pallas and Streicher presenting demonstrations on becoming colors in clothing. Rea won county honors with a dress and undergarments she made herself and will present the same demonstration at the state fair. Mrs. Alice Bird, county extension agent, accompanies the trio. The judging yesterday was by Mrs. James W. Pendry of Portage county. team demonstration leader is Mrs. LF Eldred. Honorable mentions were named for several girls across townships.

Chicago August 6 1933 plan to erect a tower twice the height of Paris Eiffel Tower at Lake Michigan site of the World’s Fair would reach 2063 feet or 1079 feet taller than Paris tower and 813 feet above the Empire State Building. Forty passenger elevators would run at 1600 feet a minute to carry sightseers up and down the column with an estimated cost of 3 million dollars.
