Weather forecast reads storms and showers across the region from Thursday through Saturday with fair north and southern chances. Highs expect upper 70s to low 80s, nights mainly in the 50s, and winds NW at 5 to 15 knots.
Showers and thunderstorms moved toward the East Coast leaving fog in its wake. Storms accompanied a cold front that swept east overnight after spawning tornadoes in the Midwest. Fog lingered in Pittsburgh Cleveland and Buffalo while Elkhart Indiana reported three tornadoes near Monday.
At the Ohio State Fair, plans to add Bungee Mania faced initial resistance from the state controlling board over potential fatalities and multi million dollar liability suits. After assurances of 5 million dollars per jump coverage and regulatory oversight by the Department of Agriculture, the event was approved with Rep. Dean Conley and others voting against the contract still voicing concern.
U S Senator John Glenn urged President Bush to declare Ross County Ohio a disaster area after flash floods on July 26 killed two. Rep Bob McEwen also called for the declaration to unlock Small Business Admin and federal disaster aid. Governor Voinovich acted quickly with a request on July 29.
