Vermilion Girl Crowned in Beach Tragedy Rescue Effort
A Vermilion girl who would have started Vermilion High School next month died after a lifeguard left the area around 5 p.m. Saturday. Relatives at a family reunion reported she could not swim. Divers from Elyria Lorain and the Tri-County Underwater Rescue Unit aided the recovery, aided by Vermilion volunteers and sheriff’s deputies. Names of divers and participants from Elyria Lorain Ridgeville and Amherst are listed. Funeral services are set for St Mary Church with burial at Maple Grove Cemetery.
