Lorain Man’s Death Creates Probate Dilemma
The death of James McKinnon 6 East Erie Avenue Lorain a retired National Tube Company employee and bachelor with few relatives leaves county officials puzzled over handling his affairs. Bailiff Fred Bauer who was his Masonic brother seeks guidance on accessing three or four safety deposit boxes to locate a will. Prosecutor Howard Butler suggested probate court appointment to authorize box exits, but Judge H Wilcox is on vacation delaying action. Common Pleas Judge D A Cank proposed banks and auditor’s office officials inspect the boxes to find a will or property. Banks must agree to allow inspection without probate authority, and planning continues. McKinnon was an employee of the Lorain plant and was remembered as English by birth.
