Tin-Can Tourists Gather At Sandusky For Annual Reunion
Tin-Can Tourists meet at Sandusky Erie county fairgrounds for their annual reunion. The 2000 strong gathering traces roots to 1919 Florida and notes a pioneer spirit around Tin Lizzie cars and house-on-wheels travel. Ira W. Green cites about 97,000 registered Tin Can tourists nationwide with 10 percent year round. Members seek good character and annual reunion attendance. Attendees plan a week or two of storytelling, dancing, fishing, and road condition swapping before resuming travel.
