Harold G. Briggs Dies After Long Illness
Harold G. Briggs, 47, of 220 Third street, a longtime Foster-Fitch clothing salesman, died at 1:40 a.m. at home after a lingering illness. Born in Noravalk on October 18, 1891, he moved to Elyria 30 years ago and was active in the First Baptist church. He is survived by his wife Marbie, two children Myron and Helen, a brother Roy of Milwaukee, and a sister Mrs. Loren Palmer of Elyria. Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist church with Rev. Ralph Neighbour and Rev. R. T. Ketcham officiating. Burial in Ridgehill Memorial Park. The body lies at the Carl L. Taylor Funeral Home where friends may visit.

London Ohio reports that Laula Vandervoort thirty six and three other inmates escaped London Prison Farm hospital ward using a home made biow torch. The escapees Cal Adomack Harold Courtner Nathan King were serving 10 to 25 years or longer for robbery assault and murder. They cut through a 12 by 10 foot window with a torch built from a flower pot and pipe stem, then crawled down a rope of bandages to the grounds before daylight. Vandervoort, a life term for second degree murder, had helped shape Ohio parole policy two years earlier.
