Fire damages tire center in North Ridgeville
A suspicious early Sunday fire caused thousands in damage to North Ridgeville Tire Center on Center Ridge Road. Firefighters spread a 10 foot high tire pile to access the flames with more than 15 personnel working four hours. Estimated damage is $20,000 plus potential increases. One firefighter suffered a shoulder injury.

Bridge repair shuts part of Foster Road
A section of Foster Road between Indian Hollow Road and Route 18 was closed today as workers replace a bridge deck. Officials said the road will be shut for about two weeks with detours guiding traffic along Indian Hollow Road and Route 18.

Noisy muffler leads Amherst man to arrest for DWI
A loud muffler prompted a Lorain police officer to arrest Theodore Kerecz 21 of 125 Westwoods after he left Burger King at 1900 Cooper Foster Park Rd driving while intoxicated and with an unsafe vehicle. He weaved before police stopped him. A separate report notes a clerk at Rite-Nau Beverage 3760 Oberlin Ave was robbed at gunpoint by a muscular man who demanded cash and fled with about $150 after pulling the telephone from the wall.
