Medina school tax urged to be permanent funding fix
Medina County schools superintendent Homer B. Smyth urged making the temporary state sales tax increase permanent to fund Ohio schools and other programs. A Grass Roots Coalition press conference warned of a financial crisis in public schools and called for a new tax plan before the June expiration. Smyth cited rollback effects under Proposition 13 era limits and urged $1.2 to $15 billion additional funding, with a May 20 rally in Columbus for school supporters.
