Avon facility marks progress on a 326000 square foot five story hospital adjacent to Richard E Jacobs Center. Groundbreaking was in October for a 143 million project adding 126 single rooms two ORs expanded ER and radiology lab with a 18 month path to finish. First patients expected fall 2016 with 475 current staff and future hires TBD.

Avon Lake switches fireworks supplier for July 4 show
Avon Lake has switched from Mad Bomber Fireworks to Zambelli Fireworks after a dispute over last year’s 1853 shells. The city paid $14,000 but received only 709 shells. This year the city again solicited quotes and will count shipments to avoid shortages, promising about 65 percent more fireworks than last year at Weiss Field.

Lorain Forum Empowers Special Needs Families
Matt Klein organized Lorain County Special Needs Resource Day to ease the burden on families of autistic children. About 35 providers spoke in a three hour forum and a two hour exhibition followed at DeLuca's Place in the Park. Participants included Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital for Rehabilitation and Lorain County Board of Developmental Disabilities. Sponsors Brunswick Auto Mart DeLuca's and Wickens Herzer Panza Cook Batista funded the event.
