Rain spreads from coast to midwest with floods and delays
Heavy rain and flash flood watches stretched from the East Coast to the Midwest. New York City commuters faced flooded highways while parts of New England, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut and Massachusetts dealt with rain and fog. Gale warnings were issued along the Massachusetts and Rhode Island coasts as hail fell in California’s San Joaquin Valley. Ripples of rain persisted across Kentucky Mississippi and Georgia with clearer skies and cooler air moving into the Plains and South. Traffic delays lingered as electrical issues and wind gusts up to 30 mph affected rail lines and expressways. Long delays were reported on area corridors.
