US forces kill at least 53 in hour after Christmas truce northwest of Saigon
After a one hour Christmas ceasefire, U.S. forces in helicopters near the Cambodian frontier spotted two enemy groups and hit them with bombs rockets and artillery. At least 53 enemy soldiers were killed with no American casualties. The operation covered 63 miles northwest of Saigon as allied units resumed sweeping north of Saigon and along the Da Nang coast.
