Church opens door to Celebrate Recovery program
The Church of the Open Door in Lorain County begins weekly Celebrate Recovery meetings led by trained church members. The Christ centered, Bible based program extends beyond substance issues to a broad range of hurts habits and hang ups. Pastor Bob Wickens notes its God centered approach differs from secular 12 step programs and highlights confidentiality and group sharing. The church has about 20 attendees and plans a trial run before publicizing the effort.

Five Lawyers Prepare for Key Same-Sex Marriage Arguments
The Supreme Court will hear 2 1 2 hours of arguments on whether same sex couples have a constitutional right to marry and whether states must recognize marriages from elsewhere. Civil rights lawyer Mary Bonauto will argue for the right to marry backed by the Solicitor General, with John Bursch defending Indiana? Michigan? Actually Michigan. Washington's Hallward-Driemeier will argue for recognition, while Tennessee’s Joseph Whalen opposes. Bonauto, called the Thurgood Marshall of gay rights, hopes this will be the last major test. She has led gay rights litigation for over two decades and will make her first Supreme Court appearance.
