Borrowed Plane Crashes in France Killing Three

A British Royal Air Force twin engine trainer borrowed by a home sick Indian airman crashed on a village runway near Valenciennes France killing at least three people. A 54 year old woman and two children died in the wreckage as the plane struck two houses turning them into ruins. Rescue teams recovered bodies and identified two local youths among the dead.

Lion Twins Born at Columbus Zoo Despite Secrecy

Cleo the Columbus Zoo lion gave birth to twins but staff cannot determine their sexes. Closely watching, attendants may remove the pups if Cleo refuses to feed them. Cookie was bottle fed when Cleo’s first cub was born.

Wait For Downspout Inspector Lotka Says Elyrians

Elyrians were instructed today by Safety Service Director Michael J. Lotka to do nothing about their down spouts. The downspout situation has been uncertain since a new ordinance took effect March 1 requiring removal of all downspouts from sanitary sewers and connection into storm sewers.

Lorain eyes a wide field of candidates as primary decisions near. City officials warn many areas lack storm sewers and residents cannot tell if downspouts drain to storm or sanitary lines. Russia OK's Envoys Talk Will Meet May 2 At Vienna

Moscow agrees to a Big Four ambassadors meeting in Vienna on May 2 as a step toward a foreign ministers conference to sign a state treaty with Austria. The United States Britain and France proposed the ambassadorial talks to prepare for restoring Austrian sovereignty and independence. The Soviets favor meeting to set the stage for a foreign ministers session to examine and sign a treaty. Moscow hopes for an independent democratic Austria with a four power ministers meeting. Murder Charges Return for Cleveland Man

Police prepared murder charges against a Cleveland man who fatally shot Henry Zielinski, former chief justice of the Supreme Court of Canada, in the vestibule of Grace Pharmacy on the city’s east side late Monday. Zielinski, 40, died after an illness weeks earlier.

Rain and fog blamed for fatal Lorain crash

A 57 year old Lorain man, John G. Bruce, was killed last night on Route 6 at Beaver Park in heavy rain and light fog. Driver Franklin Werley, 41, Vermilion-on-the-Lake, was not held. Bruce was rushed to St Joseph Hospital and pronounced dead on arrival. He had been in Vermilion earlier to repair a fence. He leaves seven brothers and two sisters. Services tentatively set for Thursday morning.
