Rural Water mulls reinstating pension incentive plan
The Rural Lorain County Water Authority may revive a retirement incentive that pays for additional years of service to speed up benefits. From 1992 to 2013 the program cost nearly $1.9 million for 15 workers, with a 16th worker in 1997. The plan would allow up to five years of service to be bought for the employee chosen, under strict eligibility and annual limits. James “Pete” Riley backs reviving the program amid a March 25 committee discussion, while some members remain undecided.
